Ankita Aswale is an accomplished artist and educator based in Mumbai, who brings both sensitivity and depth to her practice. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Drawing & Painting at SNDT Women’s University, she teaches Creative Painting under the NEP (2020) syllabus and Art History—roles that reflect her foundation in both technique and theory.
Her work is grounded in the traditions of fine art but constantly in dialogue with contemporary concerns. Ankita’s paintings reveal a strong command over the elements of form, colour, texture and space. Whether through her choice of subject, her use of line, or her handling of mood, she explores how painting can evoke emotion, memory, and insight. Although specific series or signature styles are less prominently documented, her position in academia and her participation in exhibitions (such as those organised by Bombay Art Society) suggest an artist who both creates and also engages with the broader artistic community in Mumbai.
As a teacher-artist, Ankita bridges the gap between learning and making. Her pedagogical presence supports a generation of emerging artists, giving them the tools both in craft and critical thinking. Her role in the SNDT curriculum underlines her commitment to preserving strong foundations in drawing, painting, mural work, as well as encouraging experimentation.
Through her dual identity as practitioner and mentor, Ankita Aswale exemplifies what many contemporary artists strive for—a balance between personal expression and contribution to community. Her artistic journey continues to unfold, marked by teaching, exhibition, and a steady refining of her voice. For those who follow her work, Ankita offers not just visual beauty, but an invitation to reflect: on what painting means, and what art can reveal about ourselves and our times.
