Ambreshwar

This painting represents Lord Vishnu, a major deity in Hinduism, in a rare dancing posture. This sculpture is found in the Chennakesava temple in Belur was consecrated by king Vishnuvardhana in 1116 AD to commemorate his victories. The temple design is star shaped, with sculptures assembled using an interlocking method of renowned Hoysala architecture, dating back to the 12th century. The sculpture is carved from soap stone display a range of hues, including pale yellow faded black and soft blues with intricate details.
