Even today, especially in many houses in rural India, a horseshoe is nailed to the frame of the door. It is often believed that by doing so, it will bring good fortune, positive vibes and energy in the house. 

On the other hand, the horse, which wins a race trophy to the owner, turns up at a slaughterhouse within weeks of retirement. I often wonder why the horseshoe doesn’t work for the horse itself.
