Shilpa Nikam is a Mumbai-based contemporary artist born in Jafarabad, Gujarat, in 1970. She earned her B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Fine Art from the prestigious Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, where she developed her distinctive visual language grounded in emotion, symbolism, and material expression.
Over the years, Nikam has presented her work widely through numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and abroad. Her notable solo exhibitions include “My Grant” (2018) and “Phoenix of Hope” (2022), both held at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. Her participation in major group shows includes the Pune Biennale (2015), “LOC – Line of Control” in Kolkata (2016), and the “BODY Show” in Thiruvananthapuram (2019).
In recognition of her artistic excellence, Shilpa was awarded the Senior Fellowship (2018–2020) by the Cultural Department, Government of India, New Delhi.
Her recent international engagements include a Printmaking Workshop and Exhibition in Mauritius (2023) and participation in “Printed Voice from India” in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA (2024).
Shilpa’s art continues to evolve through exploration, experimentation, and deep reflection—expressing resilience, transformation, and the spirit of renewal that define her creative journey.
